Some Knitting for Mama

We are back home in Nairobi!  We had a lovely trip to see family and friends in Germany, but it is also great to be back home again and settle into the daily rhythms of life.  The kids are back in school, hubby is back to work, and I am trying to get back into my crafting.

It does not mean that I sat still in the last three weeks.  I finally used the multi-coloured sock wool and pattern book that I won in this give-away in May and started the 'Lettuce Slide Scarf'.

The general body of the scarf was an easy and quick knit.  The ruffles on the other hand took quite some time since they consist of nearly 1000 stitches at the end!  I am happy with the end result below.  I meant to post some work in progress pics, but the internet time was not there.

Knitting is so relaxing and you can easily do it while in company. . .  it was the perfect craft for the holiday season.  I also took a long solo train-ride to see my parents and family for a few short days, they now are looking forward to this post to see the end result.

We zijn weer thuis in Nairobi! We hadden een leuke reis naar Duitsland om familie en vrienden te zien, maar het is ook fijn om weer thuis te zijn en het dagelijkse ritme weer op te pakken. De kinderen gaan weer naar school, manlief is weer aan het werk, en ik probeer om weer om creatief bezig te zijn.

Het betekent niet dat ik stil zat in de laatste drie weken. Ik heb eindelijk het sokkenwol en het patroon boek dat ik in deze give-away in mei won en begon áan de 'Lettuce Slide Scarf'.

De basis voor de sjaal was gemakkelijk en snel te breien. De ruches daarintegen namen heel wat tijd in beslag, met name omdat ze ​​uit bijna 1000 steken bestaan op het einde! Ik ben wel blij met het eindresultaat. Ik had me voor genomen om wat werk in uitvoering foto's op het blog te zetten, maar de internet tijd was er helaas niet.

Breien is zo'n ontspannen bezigheid en je kunt het gemakkelijk doen, terwijl in je met anderen samen bent. . . het was de perfect voor de feestdagen.  I breide ook tijdens een lange solo trein-rit naar mijn ouders en familie om ze voor een paar dagen te zien.  Diezelfde familie wil natuurlijk ook het eindresultaat zien.

Excitement about a give away win

I'm quite excited as I received the package from Waldorf Essentials.  Some time back I won the give away that they were doing at the Magic Onions blog.  I received the package yesterday and look at the lovely goodies inside, now I just need to create some time to make something lovely with it.
