With a lot more knitting on my behalf than I planned on, my son and I did manage to finish his recorder bag, made from the wool that we dyed together the other day.
We have a proud boy at the moment and a gorgeous recorder bag, don't your think so? Not a bad start for a 7 year old.

so sweet! That will be one of K's first homeschooling handwork projects. Any advice on making them?
ReplyDeleteWe just went with a straight piece, sewed it into a tube and pulled a finger-knitted cord through the top.
DeleteIt sure is cool, cheers Marie
ReplyDeleteThanks Marie!
DeleteThat is so cool! My daughter just turned 6, would she be able to knit? I don't even know how, so would have to learn first and it sounds so daunting! I'm also now thinking she maybe needs a recorder!
ReplyDeleteMy son learned how to knit this year in class 1 at his Waldorf School. He was six, so a perfect age. . . Same with the recorder, they just started it this term after having worked with the pentatonic flute for two terms.
Deleteit turned out wonderfully. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteThat is so cool! I think more boys should learn how to knit. If they did the world would be a much more peaceful place. Our son crocheted himself a blanket a while ago. Poor guy, it gets so cold in the house during the winter.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ulla! I just finished reading this article (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/mara-menachem/knitting-is-more-important-than-homework_b_3612321.html) and it mentions how knitting improves memory and fine motor skills. . . no differences for genders!
DeleteThis has turned out so pretty.
ReplyDeleteThanks Linda!
